Hi there!
I’m Yen.

I am the owner of Qi Yoga.

I deliver yoga to practitioners to start from where they are.

I am a passionate yoga teacher from Penang, Malaysia. I founded Qi Yoga in the year of 2009 with the aim of delivering authentic yoga practices to the local community. In 2011, after 2 years of running and managing Qi Yoga, I transferred the ownership Qi Yoga as I decided to continue my yoga study.

I hold a professional certificate in Accounting (ACCA), Yoga Teacher Training at 200-hour, 500-hour, kids, prenatal and postnatal. I travel to different countries such as USA, Bali, India, Bangkok and Beijing to attend yoga courses and workshops every year.

I love how western connects yoga with anatomy and science.

My passion for yoga took me to the US. I had to quench my curiosity and thirst for western style of yoga. I stayed in Austin for about 6 months and I was grateful that I managed to join many classes and some remarkable workshops by world renowned teacher.

Learning yoga in the US broaden my knowledge through their analytical way of explanation, strong cues, creative teaching, supportive assisting and adjustment and more organised set up. I was also inspired by how they adapt ancient yoga practice to fit their modern lives.

By combining the East and West, I re-joined Qi Yoga in 2012 as a senior teacher and established Yoga Teacher Training Course in 2013. It was my great honour to be able to deliver the first Teacher Training Program in Penang certified internationally by USA Yoga Alliance.

My teaching is supportive holistic and preserve the authenticity of yoga, include a medley of movement, breath work, meditation, deep relaxation, chanting and yoga philosophy through story telling.

Since then, I work almost exclusively in Yoga Teacher Training. I have taught about 30 teachers in the areas of Yoga philosophy, techniques, Yoga anatomy, adjustment and apprenticeship.

Teaching private class, guiding transformational experiences and mentoring teachers are deeply meaningful to me. In 2021, I decided to re-create an update version of teacher training which is more relevant to the latest world practice. In the same year, I also developed yoga continuing education for teachers and dedicated yoga practitioners, which will focus more on how yoga can serve us in our post-modern lives. In 2022, I took over Qi Yoga and started to offer private class in an online context too.

I look forward in meeting you in this confluence of Yoga.
